Yea it's a pretty male scene. For some reason I was never able to pick up any girls by telling them I went to lan parties. Girls are weird.

god i havent play that game since napster came out. when it was being beta tested.

It hasn't changed too much after Source. I duck in for a round now and then if I only have a few minutes - I'm not very good, but the crowd playing is so obnoxious that it's still pretty fun. Plus I gotta keep up on my 1337.

i remember last time i touch it they came out with punk buster or something like that. does those type of programs still work? or kids gotten smarter and cheat in new ways.

Yes they can still cheat. Battlefield2 has some exploits apparently.

I'd attend (I'm sure that I wouldn't last long at a LAN with serious gamers, so this would be a fun introduction), but I don't have the room to host.

Sounds like a good idea, but I do lack the space to host...

I don't have a cooling system, but I do have a Dell laptop so maybe the battery will blow up or something...

I have one of the *special* batteries right here. Dell can't replace it for weeks, yet I need to take a long flight...

Well... the chance of a catastrophy is pretty small. And it's not just Dell, it's any Sony battery of this series, and more generally, Li+ion batteries in all sorts of devices. And it takes time to convince all airports and airlines in lots of countries that fly into the US to start screening passengers for batteries that might be hazardous... my guess is they've looked at the risk and the cost and decided not to bother.

Exploding laptops would definitely add to the square footage we need. Excluding that, I'd say a few hundred - 3-4 hundred anyway. Oh, and electrical that can handle it.

My battery is not one of the serial numbers listed for recall but it gets really really hot after I use it for about an hour and a half.

I think that's normal; batteries have an internal resistance which means a proportion of their power is lost as heat when in use. So there's a certain amount of heat discharged over the three hours of normal use. What is not normal is if an internal short circuit develops and the entire thing discharges within seconds, igniting the casing.

get a laptop cooler. i use my laptop all the time. and it stays cool hehe.
