you need to forget methodist alltogether and call LICH, or beth israel or nyu medical center, both in manhattan.

I would stay as far away from LICH as humanly possible, for reasons i cannot and will not disclose here.

I will say that, if i was stabbed in the heart in right in front of LICH, had blood gushing out and minutes to live, I would call 911 and ask them to take me anywhere else.

I will also tell you that I have given birth at LICH. That is not related to why I am making this statement, but that was pretty awful too.

It doesn't appear anyone has a good experience at Methodist.

Maimonedes is pretty fantastic if you don't want to go to Manhattan. They are repositioning themselves as a Womens & Childrens hospital, and are doing a damn fine job.

The thread sited above is not so old. It will give you current advice. If you think you waited on hold to reach Methodist.. get in touch with the Park Slope Parents grp, as was suggested. It will take as much as a week to get approved to join that list!

Dr. Veca is great and she works out of Methodist. I see her for my annuals (and really like her a lot) and my friend just had her baby delivered by her. The hospital part of the experience was kind of crappy for her (they don't let the fathers stay over night and they were doing construction in that wing of the hospital), but she loves Dr. Veca.

I have been to him. He is the head of the department (I think). Our first interaction was really awful, but the second time it was much better and I liked him.

FWIW - I am pretty sure that the practice that I used was Dr. Kliot. My experience at Methodist is a little out dated, so I can't help you there.

Let us know how the appointment works out. My question would be what physician do they work under because by defalt that is your OB.

I've heard good things about Jacqueline Bush, who works out of Methodist. I haven't used her personally, though.

I gave birth at Methodist in Nov 2005. I'll spare you the horror stories, and just give you the only happy part: My son and I are both healthy. I think the medical care we got was competent.

I feel I have to warn you about the nurses, though. There are some mean, mean women working there. It's nothing you can't survive, but be prepared.

Hope you will keep us all posted. This might be too personal… but if you don’t mind…, do you know if you are having a girl or a boy?

Here's another idea: if you have decided on your pediatrician, you could ask him/her for an OB reference.
