For anyone interested in basically purchasing a 13-15 year old American bride (in accordance with scripture), this is the site for you. Keep refreshing if a page doesn't come up - it's getting killed by the Digg/Reddit effect right now.

    Courtney P.
    Age: 13,
    Location: South

Courtney’s grandmother married at 13, her mother married at 13, and Courtney has decided she wants to keep the tradition going. She would prefer to stay close to her large extended southern family and loves farm or at least rural life. She got an A in Home Ec. and has read up on what else would be expected of her as a wife and is looking forward to it.

"So...what did you get in Home Ec?" is normally my first question on a date. Mmmm....popovers...

    Another classic:

"...she graduated high school a year early and intends to go to college so her husband would have to be okay with that."

i think this one freaks me out even more:
Kristin has a wild streak. She likes parties and has spent more time with boys than we’d have liked her to. We had a family talk and decided that it was time she settled down with a man who could meet her needs and help her fulfill her dreams of being an actor or singer. She’s a bit fiery but worth it.

    HOLY. CRAP.

these are all the testimonials on the site:

"Thank God for your site! Our daughter was really nervous walking down the aisle, but she seems okay now and the money we got let us keep our farm and even add on a few acres."

    —Mrs. Addrien L.

"At first we were worried that Janine was too young to get married, but then her new husband bought her a house and a car and jewelry and the money we got let us buy a house for ourselves. Getting out of the trailer park at our age was the best thing that ever happened to us, and it’s all thanks to Marry Our Daughter!"

    —Mr. Jack M.

“I was SO scared getting married so young, but my husband is an okay guy and I am SO proud that because of me my parents were able to get their first brand-new car and take the trip they always wanted to. I couldn’t have done it without your site!"

    —Katrina K., married at 14

“Our 15 year old daughter Mary wasn’t very popular and did nothing but mope around the house bringing everybody down, so we decided to marry her off through your site. Now our house is a lot cheerier and we love our new swimming pool and Jaccuzi! We’ve told our youngest that when she turns 15 we’re going to marry her off too!"

    —Mrs. James P.

“My mother thought I was getting ‘too frisky” and that I had to get married right away before I lost my purity to some high school boy. Marry Our Daughter found me a husband and my parents were able to keep their house and pay off my mother’s medical bills. I was so glad I could help them, and being married at my age (I'm 16 now) has a lot of advantages, like my own credit card!"

    —Nancy A.
notice anything? like how EVERY ONE is about the great stuff the parents bought with the bride price??? not that this is slave-trading or anything.

ETA: imho, mary's parents suck the worst. how'dya like to be that little sister?

    No way...is this for real??

I can imagine sitting around with friends and making up an entire site like this so I'm skeptical of it. I mean really? Sandy is "lithe and limber"...

It kind of reminds me of this site

There's one for just over $8000. That's such a bargain, it doesn't pay NOT to get married!

Hmmm - I think it's quite possible that this is a total hoax. At this point I hope it's true. Found this regarding age:

The states vary in determining the minimum age at which a couple can marry with parental consent. However, for the majority of states, this age is sixteen though in a very few states, this age is as low as fourteen.

I suppose it's possible that marriages could be arranged ahead of time, to take place once legal age is reached. Still looking for something that explicitly states that Bride Price is illegal.

possibly it's younger in some states with parental permission. when i was growing up in NC, i think you could get married frighteningly young with parental permission but had to wait for ?16? (something like that) to get married on your own. or you could just drive to the all-night chapels just over the border in SC, where you could get married at 14 even without permission.

Good to know that Marriage and Traditional Family Values® are safe in SC.

the lowest stated age (according to wikipedia) is in new hampshire -- 18 generally, but:
14 for males and 13 for females, in cases of "special cause" with parental consent and court permission.
love how many states still have a lower age for girls. nice.
  • sweet tea

i think "special cause" pretty much means "preggers", btw.

I'd prefer to see a different kind of proposal. One that is valid under, say, Massachusetts law. I mean, money is money, right?
