    All the stations were on it until the buildings went down
    Only ch2 was available by broadcast afterwards, because their antenna was on the Empire State Building (preeety sure it was ch2 - but that's a six year old memory)
    A bunch of people in my nabe finally got cable after 9/11 - myself included - since before we had a good free broadcast signal with a direct view of the WTC.

    There was a lot of misinformation the first day -- for most of the day, there was a question of 7 planes up in the air and unaccounted for, with the implied threat that another target could be hit. Medusa, the Here Is New York photo book/show is as good as anything to get a feel for what was happening here http://hereisnewyork.org/ , up at the Historical Society.
