    But you're in Aruba!

(Which begs the question: why are you spending your precious vacation time on here?)

Left my food for today sitting on the counter. Damn. Was a chopped up bell pepper, red kidney beans, and two peanut butter and jelly sandwiches. Not mixed together, separate. I eat well! Last night I had a dollar slice off Times Square, I'm going to to be ravenous tonight, so, um, TWO dollar slices off Times Square. Unless I throw caution and my girlish figure to the wind and break the bank with THREE!

Geez. Do I have to feed you?

I'm making a fresh pot of brown rice to eat my leftovers with.

tonight: sheep station and then, later, probably a hot dog at cattyshack.
tomorrow night: who knows? maybe I'll grab a patty or two at 3Ds to munch on during the happy hour at ripple.

Sheep station? Is that a takeout place or a cheese?

Have you ever had sheep cheese? 'Tis heavenly.

Oh, rice and beans are easy!

Soak your beans in cold water for 8 hours. (Put them to soak in the morning.) In fact, I usually stick beans and soaking water in the fridge. The colder the water, the less gassy the beans.

Now if you have a pressure cooker, that makes it easier! Wash and drain beans. Put in pot. Wash and drain rice, (I usually use short-grain brown rice). Put in pot. Put in proportional amount of water. (Say if you put in 4 cups of rice and 2 cups of beans, that's about 7 1/2 cups of water.) Put in a little salt or other seasonings. Turn the flame to medium-low to heat the water up a bit. Then put the lid on and turn the flame to high until the pressure comes up. (You can tell by the steam coming up through the top.) Once the pressure is up, turn the flame to medium-low and cook for 50 minutes. When it is done, turn off heat, but keep the lid on for another 5 minutes so the pressure can come down. Take off the lid and let it sit for another 5 minutes.

    Enjoy!

Now this will probably create a LOT of leftovers. So this is how you reheat for further gustatory pleasure:

Spoon out how much you want to eat and put in saucepan. Put in a little bit of water. Stir. Put lid on pot and reheat at medium-low to medium heat for about 5 minutes. Be careful you don't overdo it because if the water totally boils away, that's a sticky mess to clean. But if you do it right, it's just as tasty as when you first made it.

And if you put in too much water, well, that's porridge! :)

just finished making a nice batch of carrot ginger soup. mmm mmm. normally i thicken it with some whole milk, but the majority of this is going to a sick friend recuperating from a terrible e.coli infection so dairy is out. thickened it with potatoes instead.

    yowza!

Here's where you lost me. You're talking to someone who shut my gas off because I never used my stove. I had a microwave and a toaster oven, that was good enough for me. :)

I still make reservations....or takeout...although once a week I'll make pasta and some other nights I'll frozen food it.

(as for online in Aruba - a) I'm an internet addict, b) internet before nap/happy hour

Yeah, you're an addict all right! :P

My tummy is full o' sushi now. And the rebbetzin makes a killer pumpkin bread with chocolate chips! Which is weird, but very, very good!

Last night I ... got a bunch of good stuff from Ital Shak.

Tonight I will ... have two dollar slices early on 42nd St, then eat the Ital Shak leftovers later on.

BUT... this weekend I will be making vegetarian chili in order to sample the chili powders made weekend before last at BBG's chili festival. From a secret recipe that I will locate on the internet at some point this week.

Last night: gummy bears and chips for starters followed by a peanut and giant bloody mary course.

Tonight: either the same again (junk food mood) or some El Gran or whatever is first in my phone.

Will make pico de gallo for later meals this week, though the mice have taken over my kitchen so I'm not so keen on cooking these days.

Get yo'self a cat!!! Preferably a street cat that's had to hunt mice for sustenance. The kitty won't even have a chance to catch a mouse because they'll move right out.

And you'll be providing shelter to a needy animal. You win both ways.

I got called to work before I could marinate my tofu, so I'll have to make tofu kabobs some other day. I've got some leftover corn and tomato tart to have with my salad.

Ended up eating way too much from Wok & Roll...can't move now.

I would foster a cat to help with the problem despite my allergies but alas, there is enough poison in the basement to kill 10 horses and the mice have been eating it. The chance of poisoning the cat via the tainted mice is too high.

Last night I made millet with cauliflower (with some fried onions on top) and watercress and carrot nori rolls. For desert I made oatmeal raisin cookies!!! The most awesome recipe ever. Vegan, no sugar and kosher for passover (cause it has no leavening!). And it's SO good!

Tonight I have a date, so I'm probably eating out.
