you could use this for other cool words too :). like osmethne. that word i can claim a bit to have invented :P. from my notrious typo's on many message boards. this was back in '99 and on one heated thread. i kept spelling something to osmethne in the whole thread. after wards it got used by alot of people on that board and spread. even one guy rename his screenie after that name.

In a way, it's not that different from us adopting "incestial" as a board name here. Certain misspellings just seem so funny that they get adopted as an "insider" thing.

Wow - who knew? Well, apparently a lot more people than I did. I had no idea that this sort of language "metamorphism" was going on. I'm not sure how I feel about all of this... I actually find it a little unsettling...hmmm, I'll have to explore further my feelings about this...

The real problem with language "metamorphism" is when words are corrupted and used without a clue has to their historical significance and impact. It is the ultimate dumbing down of culture.

You expressed perfectly what I could not. I also cannot stand the use of the n word (not by anyone of any race) and when women are referred to as bitches and hos.

agreed. but i have absolutely no issue using the "c" word to desribe some truly, truly wretched women. (remember, i used to work in women's magazines...)

If you don't know what you're saying, is it still wrong? When I was a kid, I moved to a new school where they played a game they called something that sounded like 'ju-jump'. I was horrified as an adult to find out what it actually meant.

Maybe not. I think most people who use gay as an insult DO consciously associate it with gay people, though.
