Years ago I had trouble. My business is in 11216 When my regular carrier retired in went down hill fast. All my payments come by mail and I wasn't getting any. Big problem. I complained and wrote letters but only hit-or-miss success.

I finally wrote to the congressmen for the district and WHAM it got much better very quickly. I surmise they moved a "competent" carrier to my route and "screwed" someone else.

    It worked for me.

Fast forward to the present and it's not as good as it could be but it's OK. No major mishaps.

Most Post Office (and UPS) mistakes occur at the last step: the carrier trying to get it to you. Everything before that it pretty well automated.

Apartment buildings are intrinsically a problem because of the small boxes and various apartment numbers and maybe no human present at delivery.

As for UPS: an annual tip goes a long way. If I'm out, the regular guy will call me on my cell to see if I'm around and arrange a meet up further down his route. That works out great. Never have trouble with FEDEX Express; some trouble with FEDEX Ground

For individuals trying to receive packages I recommend hooking up with a local small business that you can trust and get them to accept your packages, even if you have to give them a few dollars every now and then it may be worth it.

The key is the delivery person need to be a "REGULAR" so he knows each customer's special needs and back-up delivery options. The police have been know to interview postal workers when they are investigating someone on his/her route. A REGULAR carrier knows everything about you based on the mail you get: behind on bills, health troubles, types of hobbies, quantities of boy/girl friends, your birthday, behind on taxes, when you go away, which holidays you have off, etc

Do you all have regular carriers? We have one main mail guy but several days a week it rotates between tons of others. I can't tell who does our USPS packages. Is there one guy for the GAP area?

I wouldn't mind tipping the UPS guy for the scheduling perk, but I think I've seen at least 4 different ones at our building, sometimes multiple guys on the same day. Do they trade packages?

    I did...

I don't see myself reaching out to make contact... If the person has questions they should post them here.
