New Pizza Place - Peppe's Pizza

I'm sure that after Mike's seen that you've been spamming multiple msg boards/blogs trashing Peppe's because they don't deliver to Astoria that he'd love to hear from you.

They deserve it

Shinybeast, just to make myself clear, it wasn't just the fact that they refused delivery to Union Street, it was how rude Peppe was on the phone.
When I asked them if they deliver to Union last time I was there, they clearly said YES WE DO and then Peppe tells me that "he plays it by ear" and then tells me he wouldn't deliver a 12 inch pie, but he would a 18 inch pie, without even asking if I was ordering anything else (which I had planned on)

Your interest in my "spamming" makes me wonder if you are in any way related to the place itself. Hmmm?

Not only do you have anger management issues but you're delusional as well. I have zero connection with Peppe's. I just think it's odd that you're flipping out so much about not getting a pizza -- a fucking pizza -- delivered to Union Street from 17th street and 4th Avenue (how many places from Union would deliver out to Peppe's location?) that you feel the need to start a fresh thread on Chowhound about it (I saw it after I read your post here).

And I was being sarcastic about Astoria. I know perfectly well that Union Street is in Bed-Stuy.

I wish. We just tried Peppes and WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT. Their Margherita was not crispy. It was just thin, droopy & wet. It was a mozzarella pizza but smelled like parmesan cheese. I might try a slice if I'm walking by but I'm in no mood for take-out from them any time soon. Yeech.

Some people like aged cheese, and the way it smells. Droopy, not so much.
I'm waiting for Carnivore to try it.

I'm not down by 17th that often, but I'll probably swing over next time I go to Bagel Hole.

Just to add some perspective, it's not top-grade Neapolitan-style pizza on the order of Franny's or Amorina, but it's probably the best delivery pizza in the South Slope area.

I also recommend asking for it "extra well done" when ordering a pie from Pepe's. If you don't ask for that, sometimes the crust is a little too soggy. I also think the 12" pies generally come out better than the 18" pies.

Just my opinion.

Hmm. That is one way to look at it. Another way to look at it is that he told you that at that time and moment he was too busy to make a delivery that far away, but rather than flat out just tell people that I won't deliver that far (which most places do), he instead gives the courtesy of delivering that far when the current business load enables him to.

But I understand your frustration. I think it might be better PR for him to just set a boundary and say that he won't deliver past it. In which case you would be in the exact same boat, but you wouldn't be so PO'd about it.

Happily he delivered (and with a very pleasant attitude) to Windsor Terrace. I think it was good pizza. I would not say DiFara but would say John's Pizza. I will order again in the future.

Its NOT Difaras, thats a unfair comparison since many consider that place possibly the best pizza in the country.

We had a margherita delivered and it got here in less than 20 min and was piping hot to boot.
My gripe is that the crust isnt as tasty, its a little bland.

Overall I have to say its the best delivery pizza I've ever had, a great new place to have in the neighborhood.

As a side note its nice and cheap, 16 bucks, tax is included for a margherita pie delivered is a deal i think.

Whoo whoo! I just called and they'll deliver to me, past Union in N.Slope mind you.

I've tried two take out slices before. Both specialty square slices. One grandma and one eggplant. Both were surprisingly delicious given our area.

Now I just ordered a whole grandma for delivery. I'll let you know how it goes.

The pie came. No basil even though we specifically asked for it. Very thick chewy crust -in a bad way. Not crispy like a square should be.
Overall I'm very underwhelmed. It's just not worth even mentioning anymore, bleh.

The individual slices I had previously were soo much better. Oh well.

I ordered the nonna a few weeks ago and found it to be bready. Yet, the bruchetta pizza was exactly what a square should be.

sounds like their sicilian rather than their grandma pizza. maybe they messed up your order? soryy you were disappointed.
