Per the Parkside Q:

"Just last night I met a guy named Chris Buckley who's opening up a Tavern at Rogers and Union to be called "The Branch Office."

225 Rogers to be exact. In the photo it is not Bambi, it is the place on the right, next door.

This is great news. I walk by this site daily, and have been wondering what was in the works. While the bridal shop and cupcake shop have cheered up Rogers a bit, more is needed! .

I expect the majority of storefronts on this stretch to be back in use by Spring 2015.

hmmmm - it is moving along slower than I thought but beggars can't be choosers :-)

and I agree - this whole strip of Rogers is about to blow up -

now they are moving along - I wonder if a potential opening date has been set yet (I took this on 9.7.14)

I walked by the other day, and the place looks the same as the picture above.  Any news? I am having trouble with the link.

Next week they are going before CB9 to request their beer/wine/liquor license and to use tehri outdoor garden space.  I assume this is just a formality at this point given these guys own other successful businesses in the nabe and wouldn't have gotten into this without expecting approval of both.

Given the dysfunctional nature of CB9, it appears that they have wisely gone ahead and applied to SLA prior to receiving the "blessing" of CB9.

SLA does not need a CB's permission to issue a permit, and I suspect that they may go ahead and issue one under the circumstances:

Yes - I spoke to the guy afterward - Chris Buckley.  I felt horrible for him and for Alison Pels who both had to speak about their license applications.  This was about the time MTOPP was reaching a crescendo outside and people were screaming at them both as they spoke.  It was awful!  It is another reason I was so PISSED at CB9 because it is an atmosphere in which business can NOT get done and it is unfair to these folks.  Anywho - Chris said yes he had already applied and was at CB9 as a show of good faith and for their blessing but he he is ready to go.  he said the interior is almost done and he wants to open on December 15.  The interior space is 1000sf and the outdoor space is 1000sg

    Good for him.

Hopefully the chair of CB9 and Eric Adams put in a discreet phone call explaining the situation.

I walked by yesterday and noticed the SLA had posted a sign on the door saying a liquor license had been requested and if you had any comments to call a number that was listed.  I hope this is a sign that the establishment will be opening very, very soon!

Something tells me the folks who put there kids in Bambi won't be frequenting the bar.

It might.    It seems like they are going for more of a cocktail and wine crowd:

To me, that means a quieter atmosphere.

Branch Office will be the first new bar south of EP in Crown Heights.

Anyone want to predict how many new bars will open between Empire and EP before -say- 2016?

Who wants to predict how many of the churches on Rogers will be protesting? I know some of the churches on Friday night services.

Ooooooh. I'll bet maybe in the 3-4 range? 4 if this includes bar combos like bars/coffee shops and bars/restaurants. A year is a long time and this year is the year of the south moving tide!
