For produce I go to Hamm's on the corner of Fanklin and St John. Their selection isn't huge, but it is good quality produce and wicked cheap. I say screw the big companies, and go support the little dude who's avocados are always ripe.

ham's rocks house. they even had scuppernong grapes once. i've never seen those except growing wild in my north carolina back yard.

i am a met foods devotee for most things. it's amazing the variety in that place. it's like mary poppins' carpet bag -- somehow what i want is always there. (or does that make it like mp's medicine? anyway.) the only thing i haven't been able to find is semolina flour, and the manager came out and had a nice chat with me about where i might be able to get it and how they're thinking of carrying it and some of the distribution issues involved.

and it doesn't stink, like c town.
