I watched the video. The five guys were not only intelligent but eloquent. It's a pity that they needed those services to begin with because they certainly are able to succeed. Hopefully the fund will be able to help those that aren't quite as smart because that's where the real challenge is.

They likely picked clients who were doing the best for publicity purposes.

Perhaps to headoff potential action by Cuomo and/or the Coalition for the Homeless, DeBlasio is now replacing the DHS police found in shelters with NYPD.

Those who work in the affordable housing field have known it was coming years, but the feds have now slashed their contributions to the transitional housing programs.

NYC presently can't construct permanent housing (i.e. supportive housing) or emergency housing (i.e. shelters) quickly enough to meet its obligations under the Right To Shelter settlements, and will have to fund the transitional shelters out of pocket.

...expect costs to further increase.

NYC may lose a lot of its remaining middle class hotels.

I wonder if the new La Quinta on Atlantic Ave and Nostrand will eventually become a homeless shelter. I don't think it is open yet, but I would not be surprised.

Friends who work at the Department of Homeless services describe the challenge of keeping enough shelter available to be a complicated puzzle.   There are trying to use every resource to its fullest.
