I've noticed some work in 1136 President St. around the corner from 241 Rogers (Right next to Mt. Zion Church).  It looks like it is going to be a cafe.  Anyone know anything about this project?

Ah, the former Variety Store to the left of the tree. I had seen renovations but I didn't know what was coming yet.

How far along in construction do they appear?

I have not yet seen them on the list of places that have requested a DOH inspection, which could mean it will be a while before they open.

The entire strip of Rogers is likely to soon have businesses.

The future tenants of the new building under construction down the street is part of what is driving the change. http://www.brooklynian.com/discussion/39022/south-of-ep-the-church-at-rogers-between-carrol-and-crown-is-next-to-go&nbsp

@whynot_31 the place looked like it had a coffee machine and a meat slicer. They had a lot of plants. Not sure if it's a catering business or plans to be a cafe. It looks like it is ready to open if it is a cafe.

I met Marcel and Kerry from Marker Coffee (at 241 Rogers) over the weekend, and just ordered the first iced coffee at Eleventhirtysix (at 1136 President) this morning. Their walk-up is now open! They're primarily a catering service with a walk-up during the day.

Looks like the coffee options at my intersection are vastly expanding.

The catering aspect would explain why I did not see their inspection. (I don't really jabber about catering places)

Back in March, a catrering company "Nahvae Teal Frost" was inspected at that address:

It seems they are now going by Eleven Thirty Six.

It seems we will soon have two coffee shops next door to each other. One with seating, and one that is take out only.

Here's press about the one with seating: http://www.nydailynews.com/life-style/eats/eating-2-line-president-st-stop-article-1.2223884

From my understanding (I have been speaking with them every day), the primary function of the space is to house the catering/events company they have been doing from their apartment on Nostrand for 8 years.

1136 is the name of the space where this happens (not necessarily DBA) as well as the takeout coffee, scone, muffin, and sandwich walkup window. Everything is prepared by the main chef, Nahvae, who you see speaking to the patron in the above image.

She is always experimenting with new types of sparkling water, pastries, and sandwiches. Everyone is extremely open, inviting, and they have a jar of natural dog treats now for us walkup customers.

Here is their official bio: http://eleventhirtysix.com/about-us/

Word on the street is they may have seating inside soon.  Their sandwiches are delicious...though a bit pricy

She mentioned to me that they'll start posting their catering menu online. This was a month or two ago...
    Great place, agreed.
