So is that a neighborhood? It's only 1 block long. Even the west side of Ocean Ave between Church and Caton is Caton Park? What about the parade grounds?
surely caton park must include the parade grounds and everything between it and flatbush ave, and between caton and parkside.

She also doesn't include Vanderveer Park. It's east of Flatbush ave, predates all the micro-neighborhoods on her map, but was also a planned community of elegant wood frame houses built over what was farmland.
The history is fun to know, but not practical for modern usage. "South Midwood" is north of "Northern Midwood"!

stray thought; williamsburg was once part of bushwick but no one stands up and reminds everyone "williamsburg is part of bushwick too, you know!!!!!!!"

except me, just now, to prove a point

I rarely remind people that Brooklyn is part of Long Island.

Exiled in Manhattan after twenty-five happy years in Brooklyn, and finally planning my return, I am in love with Flatbush except for the hospitals and the package delivery (public and private). I work at home but don't want to be trapped at home to send/receive packages. And after visiting Brooklyn, Kings County, and Maimonides hospitals' ERs, I wouldn't want to be trapped there, either.

But I agree w/ doublen00b about the great trains. I've used CityMapper to compare commuting to where my spouse works in Manhattan, and the B or Q from the stations from Church to Newkirk usually beat the 2/3/4/5 hands down,
