    Several of these houses will likely be torn down over the next year or so.    The houses have unused FAR.

    "Property owner Jacob Friedman, doing business as an anonymous Brooklyn-based LLC, has filed applications for a seven-story, 14-unit residential building at 698 Empire Boulevard, on the northern edge of East Flatbush. It will measure 22,639 square feet and its residential units should average 1,305 square feet apiece, indicative of condominiums. There will be two units per floor. Ruslan Goycheyev’s Brooklyn-based RSLN Architecture is the architect of record. The 50-foot-wide, 4,600-square-foot assemblage is currently occupied by two two-story rowhomes. Demolition permits were filed in April. The Kingston Avenue stop on the 2/3 trains is located seven blocks away."

    This is still Crown Hts,, not the northern edge of E. Flatbush. Sorry to see these houses go. I know the area has numerous 6 story apartment buildings, but I would prefer the character of this main part of my neighborhood not to change too much. Can it be long before other homes along are sold to developers for similar projects?  :-(

    ...time will tell whether that is what happens when housing goes to the highest bidder, without discrimination.

    The adage "if you are not with us, you are against us" is likely held by those being priced out.

    I can't wait until this kind of development moves west on Empire...I want a 20 story hotel at Washington and Empire.

    The fact this sort of development is occurring this far east gives viewers an idea how much MORE properties at Washington and Empire (such as Western Beef and McDonald's) would be worth if their zoning were to be changed.

    IE If people will pay big money to live at Empire and Troy, imagine how much they will pay to live closer to the park and transportation.

    There was a feud between Satmar and Lubavitch going as far back as the late 70's.

    There are even feuds within the Satmar community, between the followers of the two different sons of their former rebbe, the Aronim and Zalonim:

    And, there are certainly feuds within the Lubavitch community.    The one that comes readily to mind is the degree to which Schneerson was infallible and "the" Messiah.

    I am just glad that this Irish looking guy could buy and sell real estate from and to merely the highest bidder, and no one would particularly care.

    I wouldn't. Put a hotel on Eastern Parkway and Bedford instead.
