Subject: Chock Full O'Nuts coming to 7th Ave?

Only the Blog Knows Brooklyn and Curbed are reporting that the former Cinematheque space on Seventh between Union and Prez is slated for a Chock Full O'Nuts retail store.

I'm not originally from New York, so I can't determine if this is a good or bad thing... my only impression of the brand is of cheap Sanka-esque coffee on the grocery store shelf.

Thoughts?

That's too bad--especially since you could walk a few blocks in any direction from that location and get a much better cup of coffee.

Like Gorilla. Why-oh-why didn't they move on this space?

Maybe they can take the now-vacant record store across the street btw Carroll and Prez.

my boyfriend had worked at a design agency that was working to recreate the Chock full-o-nuts packaging/design/image to move away from their Sanka-like association... they are trying to reinvent themselves and from what I've heard they will be opening quite a few coffee shops

As a lifelong NY, one of my best childhood memories was going to the City with my dad and stopping at Chock Full O'Nuts for coffee and donuts. Man, that and the Automat were like my two favorite places in the world.

I for one am not sad to see them back, although I know that its not going to be anything like I remember.

Yes, I'm kidding. Althought it's too far to walk for coffee. The 5th Ave Gorilla is closer to me.

Blame it on Buggs Bunny, but I *dream* about automats. Alas, the last of the automats closed before I ever had a chance to plug in my nickels.

    sigh.

Has that opened? And more importantly, can I drop in my nickel and splat someone in the face with a slice of pie?

    squealing at the thought,

Isn't Pret a Mange kind of like the modern equivalent of the automat. Without the nickles of course.

I find Kiwi to have rather frumpy clothes more often. I wish something else was going in there instead. Like an Intermix or something like that.

    Dear Park Slope,

I would really love to know who dreams up this garbage about Chock Full O' Nuts coming into the old Cimematique location.

THEY ARE NOT COMING TO THE STORE!!!!!

The reason I know this is because

    I OWN THE BUILDING!!!

    Kindly stop spreading stupid rumors.

The best way to kill these stupid rumors is to tell us who really is coming to "the store."

Thanks. In that case, I'll suggest Gorilla Coffee (with one store currently on 5th Ave) as a potential tenant. :D:D

OK something is clearly going on in the storefront now - seems to be getting cleaned up for something. Anyone know the scoop?

Please be informed that we are installing a new glass front to make the store more desirable.

The store is still on the market.
We do not want food or any business involving food.
    Thank you.

    respectfully,

Won't that be tough to do without "food or any business involving food"?

George, what about a specialty beer store? 95% would be sealed beer but there would be some cheese and maybe the occasional tasting. I'd love to open something like that up there and the locale is perfect.
