is it cool for a newbie to attend? (not that this isnt a regular occurance given how many people seem to be moving into the neighborhood). I think it would be a lot of fun to meet everyone.

sure, why not? I'm a relative newbie with an annoyingly high posting volume and I'll be there. :)

    Subject: Another Newbie

Well, maybe this will be a Newbie party (myself included). If it turns out that way, we could make t-shirts and take on the old-school DH-ites in a game of softball or something. I'll be there at 9pm (hopefully with S.O.)!

I'm planning on going after I get back from a family dinner which is unlikely to run past 10 (thanks for babysitting, EmilyM & Mr. M).

Reviewing photos of other events, I can't help but notice that y'all look a little ... long in the teeth. Or let's just say I still have my baby teeth. Or that I've eaten so many cupcakes, I've eroded all my teeth. If I show up with all my 24 years of worldly stupidity, will it look like someone brought their baby-sitter?

You said, "long in the teeth" haha, oy.

Well I think everyone looks fun and yes it's my big 2-4. I figured rather than getting into trouble far from home with friends I would rather make new friends and get in trouble close to home. Trouble can be defined in many ways...

Oy gods... you will not look like the babysitter, but I may look like an old bear... then again, I am always a fan of mixing the generations, you kids keep me young at heart.

Anybody else remember Jimmy Carter? Or poprocks?

I remember pop rocks - remember pro-keds? - I guess I can share my walker with you then

PS: I dare you to eat pop rock with Pepsi

So you, me and dennisobell will show up en masse and leave Mr. Medusa with Lockjaw?

To Cupcake, KateBkln et al.: I am older than 24, but am constantly reminded that I can pass for under 21, so I wouldn't worry about it. At some of the previous get-togethers, people have brought babies, but this will be too late for them.

    Long in the tooth indeed.

If I could I would be there with my Vans, striped Benetton rugby, and L.L. Bean backpack to pay tribute to my erstwhile prep-skate-poseur 80s days. Oh, and a "Who Shot J.R.?" pin for good measure.

But alas, I cannot make it tonight. Please tip a Chimay to this absent homie.

Sweet. I've forgotten what it is like to have friends in my neighborhood.

I'll try to make it tomorrow night, although it is dangerously close to my bedtime.

PS I am avaliable for babysitting.

thank you, Sterling, Kate and Candicissima. And cupcake, i agree with your sentiment... it is nice to have friends in a neighborhood. my first year here in NYC was up in UES Manhattan and i think that was the loneliest most unfriendly place on earth. its nice to come over here and find that not only are people friendly, but they get together. I *heart* it over here.

Okay, but somewhere along the line I picked up the idea that it was acceptable to show up to social gatherings with my knitting in tow. (I think it was at that damn women's college.) I'm getting better at leaving the needles at home, but sometimes I have a relapse.

Well, you don't want your knitting to smell like spilled alcohol -- or worse case scenario, vomit! That would be enough to make me leave it at home.

Oh, I have some knitting I've been working on (yes, in bars). If I can get past the "counting part" to the "straight-up knitting" part, I'll bring it.
