Dog boarding suggestions
Hi everyone,
Sorry if this has been covered before, but do any of you dog owners have recommendations for boarding? I am new to the neighborhood with a large dog, and prefer not to put her in a kennel while I'm away for a few days. Has anyone used Eva's Play Pups or Tailwaggers? Brooklyn would be great, but I'm willing to travel to Manhattan or beyond for someplace good.
Thanks so much!

Hi There...
I've used Brooklyn Dog House and Eva's Play Pups...After almost a year, I finally stopped boarding my doggie at BDH...He kept getting sick there...Eva's is a bit more expensive, but i LOVE Eva and she's fabulous with the dogs...BDG isn't bad, but Eva's is sooo much better...Someone even sleeps overnight in a big bed with the dogs...not kidding... -
I don't think I want a stranger sleeping with my dog in a big bed . . .
Anyway, I used Brooklyn Dog House, and my dogs didn't get sick. They were really nice when we visited to check the place out, and handle weirdo dogs really well (my friend left her formerly abused and still nutty dog with them once.)
They do pickup and delivery, which is nice... -
Subject: Cat boarder?
Going along similar lines, does anyone know of a reliable cat sitter or boarder in the area? I'll be going on vacation in a few weeks for the first time since I've had my cat. -
I have never had a dog big enough to ride, so I have never boarded any.

I have always had fantastic experiences with brooklyn dog house. My dog does not like strangers, and the staff there were incredibly patient in working with him, and were willing to let him board even though I told them up front that he could be difficult. He now LOVES it and starts to pull on the leash when we get nearby. Also, he's never gotten along with other dogs, but at the BDH, I've actually witnessed him playing with other dogs! Malcolm, the owner, is really fantastic, as are the staff. I have had nothing but the best experiences there.

I like Monster Mutt, they are great.

There's another dog boarding facility in RedHook, with tons of outdoor space, that I've heard wonderful things about. Have to ask Vivian from Housebroken about it, she know the name and info.

Subject: Brooklyn Dog House
I took my dog there twice a couple of years ago and will never take her there again. The first time she stayed one night. After I picked her up, she was sick for four days. I chalked it up to stress because she wasn't used to being away from home. Then, I took her there another time -- this time for 2 nights -- and she came home with a terrible stomach illness. She threw up 17 times and had to be hospitalized for two days at the emergency vet. Some $500 in vet bills later, I started asking other dog owners about their experiences there. Sure enough, there were lots of stories about sick dogs. It's a shame because the folks over at BDH are quite nice. But the place obviously is struggling with sanitary issues. -
I've used monster mutt in Carol Gardens in the past and they were very nice.

i've used Eva's for years, and have always been satisfied with their services. on the single occasion during the past decade (i even used Eva's before she had Playpups and boarded on a much smaller scale) i had a less-than-stellar experience, the staff were quick to respond and resolve the issue to my satisfaction.

I have no ideas, but just wanted to share the fact that when i looked at the title, it took me a full three minutes to shake the notion that "dog boarding" was some weird canine competitive extreme sport.
That is all.
Howdy, Stranger!
