Volunteer with American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
Hello Everyone,
This is really a great web-community. I work for AFSP, which is the only national nonprofit dedicated to reducing the numbers of suicides per year and the stigma attached to depression. We have a large scale event, called the Out of the Darkness Overnight Walk, each year that directly benefits AFSP and is their largest fundraiser. You can check out AFSP at:
www.afsp.org
Last years event, and info on what's to come in 2008, can be seen on YouTube here http://youtube.com/watch?v=5bCNhPOg8Bw
If you have time to volunteer, send me an email!! We have a great team and the atmosphere is very sociable. We meet each Wednesday at our Wall Street location from 5PM - 8PM for Volunteer Night.
We are also out there in the community telling everyone about our cause and the Overnight. This past weekend, 11/3 - 11/4 we were at the Javits Center during the Gay Life Expo. This was an excellent outreach event and we made several interpersonal and interorganizational contacts. If you are interested, or know of upcoming Brooklyn events where we should have a presence, send me an email: [email protected]
Regards
