Legal Fundraier for Tony Limuaco at Freddy's Sunday Jan. 20 — Brooklynian

Legal Fundraier for Tony Limuaco at Freddy's Sunday Jan. 20

Subject: Legal Fundraier for Tony Limuaco at Freddy's Sunday Jan. 20

One summer evening after a movie, a man waited for a friend at the usual bar, at the usual time, for the usual beer. It was a night like any other. He ordered his drink and stepped out to smoke — then the evening took an odd turn.

Upon returning he encountered two angry strangers: a medicated poet and his paramour, a criminal law student. For reasons unknown, they rudely demanded his chair. She cursed him like a drunken pirate and threatened to throw her drink in his face, then he was literally dragged into a situation by the poet. The patron was arrested and charged with harassment, menacing with a hidden weapon, invoking a "racially" motivated crime, attacking a man with a 45 pound chair, but the worst charge of all, a felony assault on a woman. All charges were false, as supported by multiple witnesses. After the three taxing years of defending himself in two courts, the case finally reached an end like a beached whale on jagged reef.

Although this seems like a page from Franz Kafka, it is a true tale. Sounds nutty, doesn't it? Can lemons be turned into lemon martinis? What happens next?

A Legal Fundraising Event for Tony Limuaco (The Yarn Monkey)
Live Bands, Excellent Eats, Silent Auction (knit wear and more), Raffle, Suggested Donations Welcomed... there's so much more.

When? Sunday January 20, 2008, from 8:00 PM onward
Where? Freddy's Bar & Backroom 485 Dean Street

8:00 Bill Carney & the Jug Addicts is powerful, snappy, down & dirty, euphoric Rock-a-hillbilly — perhaps the finest Jug Band in NYC. Bill Carney's Jug Addicts' repertoire draws from early jazz, tin pan alley, ragtime, and string band music, along with the classic jug band canon, capped by Irish tenor Brian "El-Fabuloso" Mulroney. Their CD, "Cynthia's Kitchen" was produced by JP Bowerstock (The Strokes).

9:00 Raffle

10:00 John Pinamonti & Crew is high, wide and handsome. John is a local bluesman with a classic voice and the heart of a hound. If his music had a color it would be deep country blue.

This evening has been arranged by Dan Davis & friends, and has been graciously made possible by Freddy's Bar. For more information go to www.freddysbackroom.com
