I am an experienced babysitter who recently went back to school, I am looking to make up a few hours on monday and/or Wednesdays. I attend City Tech on Jay Street. I would love to take care of your munchkins wile you run errands or if you just need a break. I am hoping for a long term position that could possibly run into the summer as well. This doesn't really answer your question--that is, I don't need a regular babysitter for these times and as I know that's what you need, I hesitate to ask but I'm really stuck and thought if nothing else you might know someone who'd be interested. I have a six-year-old boy who doesn't need any regular child care as he goes to school and then has an after-school program for the days we can't pick him up early but my husband and I do need a babysitter for those occasional nights out. The problem is finding someone who can do the odd night. We have had our cleaning lady do it but she is not a good fit for our son as she doesn't engage him at all and he has been asking for someone else. Usually this means a Saturday night from 6 pm to around 10 as we mostly just go out to dinner, so it's not a lot of money (we give $60 for this plus car fare if it's later/bad weather) and we live in the north part of Park Slope. We were thinking a college/high school student who is looking to pick up extra cash without having to make a commitment but so far we haven't found this person.

Hello there,

I wish I could help but I don't presently know of anyone who's looking. It would be a bit more difficult to find someone on a as needed basis. If the at least three saturdays a month was an option for you ,you might have better luck. Try putting a descriptive ad on craigslist. I'm sure you'll get lots of replies. I wish you the best of luck.
