  • Subject: Summer Knit

    Hello crafty people,

In previous years Knit PH ended in spring and picked up again in the fall. As a group consensus Knit PH will go all season long into summer for the first time. Plans are still in the works but Knit PH will start our outdoor knitting circles in June. Some of our members have volunteered to be co-pilots to help run our summer sessions. The main resposibilities will managing the Meetup.com listings, watching for the weather in case we have to notify cancelation to the group, and showing up early to reserve space. Here’s some suggestions for some summer activities.

    - Yarn exchange and end-ball give away
    - Needle exchange
    - Book loans (best at Freddy's)
    - A picnic/bandshell concert night
    - Sloan/Kettering Hat Drive (they need hats all season long)

    A PLAN OF ACTION
To KIP is to "knit in public", Knit PH takes it outdoors summer 2008. Two FREE public locations that we will use are the Sculpture Garden behind the Brooklyn Museum and the Picnic House area in Prospect Park. Both are near bus/train transit, they’re pretty safe and have bathrooms. Although we will take a break from Maha’s and Prospect Perk for the summer we will still keep Freddy’s (otherwise we'll lose that calendar slot).

We also plan a big picnic with the Park Slope Knitting Circle at some point in summer. For questions and more information e-mail me at: [email protected]
