Alternate Side Double Parking

I think DeWalt's comment about parking a block away is referring to something I've wondered about as well.
I work a 9-5, so my neighbors who work earlier hours than me or have family that'll move the car for them in the middle of the day usually already have all of the next day's spots by the time I get home. I often have to park a block or so away.
How many double parkers could've just avoided the whole shebang by driving around the previous night and being set for the next day?
Sure there are some who are probably dropping of kids and partners at work/school/etc. but how many are just leaving it to the last minute? -
Boogie --- that would help. I always try to move my car the day or more before so that I don't take a spot or have to double park. Would be great if people did that.

There are many people who have their neighbors move their car for them. I know my mother in law does it for 2 people on our block. Maybe you can work something out with those who move them during the day.

Nobody - NOBODY - touches my 92 Corolla! She's my baby. -
When I was living in Manhattan I sometimes parked 4 blocks away from my apt so that I could avoid the street cleaning rules. It's part of owning a car in NYC.

I am sure this has been discussed at some point, but does anyone know why PH has street cleaning 4x a week? In many residential neighborhoods, like the slope, cleaning only happens twice a week. 4x seems excessive and certainly a pain for car owners.
