Or maybe it's just that the writer/article is a crap.

3. ERIC MORGAN
30, Prospect Heights, commercial real estate.
There’s a party for me in Fort Greene that I’m working my way over to. It starts now, but I’ll probably roll over there in an hour. This girl here, Kate, she’s feeling me. We exchanged numbers, but I sort of have a girlfriend. I’m committed to her, but I’m going to remain social. I’m going to go out and have fun. I think Kate is cool and fun.

GABBY WARSHER
28, Gowanus, blogger.
Jessie: Gabby and I went to college together in Minnesota. We met freshman year when we were both chain-smoking outside our dorm.
Gabby: We’re both in fairly long-term relationships, but we’ve met many disreputable boys together. We both met former boyfriends at the Cherry Tavern in the East Village. Mine was a heroin addict. Her boy had a problem with thieving and got arrested for stealing a clarinet or something.
What is the point of this article??

My apologies if you are reading this and were in the article

  • Well, it's good to see that there are stillheroin addicts and clarinet thieves in NYC.
  • I agree with you, Mamacita, that this article seems pointless. It's also annoying how these women seem to think that drug addiction and legal problems are amusing or "cool".

    NY Magazine is pointless.
  • The music was probably playing so loud that they had to shout, pausing every couple words to recover their voices. [WHAT?] I said the music probably was [I CAN'T HEAR!] Too Loud! Whatever. [I LOVE THIS MUSIC!] Okay. Can I get your number? [WHAT?] I said: Can I get Your Number? [Girl mumbles something.] Yeah…Cool… I'll text you.
  • Anyone else feel that this shoot was way too staged?
  • gross. this made me hate the place even more than i already do! what a dumb article, and what dumb people saying dumb things! dumb dumb dumb!
  • The thing is, I seriously hope that this is not a real look into the people that come onto Vanderbuilt establishments.
A friend of mine stopped going to Beast recently because the place was just too freekin over-packed with non locals and hipsters taking up all the place.
I love Beast but damn, you know, it's a sign of the gentraconflication (j/k) going on here! :P
  • Weather Up must have paid a lot of money to publish this New York Ragazine advertisement crap.
  • What's sad is people who actually read that crap or believe that human interaction can be understood in such bare terms. Go out. Meet the person next to you. Form your judgments having lived rather than read.

.....she says while her avatar reads....

I guarantee that if any of us were in that photo, we would all end up looking and sounding like douchbags. Everyone in that mag does (c'mon the LOOK BOOK- everyone hates those people!) Enough with the judging.

That article captured pretty much the same crowd I've always seen at Weather Up, and to some extent at Beast. : /
  • It's amazing what passes (or tries to pass) as journalism these days...the individual as celebrity wave must end now...

Also, making notes of things I wanna be when I grow up:

    - consumer-trend spotter
    - blogger
    - architect/bartender (at the same time!)
    - New York Magazine "writer"

I nominate this post for "BEST POST OF APRIL, 2008."
Thank you, Sterling. Are you here all week?

If you're already the first three, you're a shoo-in for the third !
  • There are douchebags at every bar on saturday night. And weather up is a lot less loud and packed with people than soda and barrette.

    very true.
  • Subject: Staged at Weathered?

    Did you guys miss me?
    Europe is cold and rainy!
Anyhow i am staying out of the debate of weather weathered up being dumb or not, i don't really care, but looking at the staged pic i just had to laugh knowing that i have met a couple of those losers in it and i am glad they go there radther there than any of my other local joints. Anyhow, i saw a girl in that pic that i know very well, and i have to warn the horny male population looking to get laid when drunk or getting drunk , stay away from this psyco , if you are lucky enough to bed her she will stalk you to the point of terror. Hint ? Double jobs!! So good luck with the crazies at weathered!

Did anyone go to the save Coney Island thing at Barrette and if anyone did , how was it?
