yes thats what i'm talking about.
i haven't rode a bike in the streets for years, cause i nearly got run over by a car when i was a kid. i only ride in parks. -
I'm I the only person that is annoyed at the city's poor planning? Why in the world did they complete repave the street and paint all new lines (double yellow, crosswalks, etc) only to rip it up again? I guess the pavement planners don't ever talk to the planter box planner. Wouldn't it have made more sense to install the dividers before repaving the street?
BTW...How long until some jackass puts his car up on top of those black and white "things"? -
My assumption is (which may be wrong)... harder to pave with "white things" in the middle of the road then to just pave the whole thing. Let's give the construction guys a little slack, they may actually know what they are doing.
Dude, look it's an elephant!
:elephant: -
Okay but why bother with putting down the pavement markings?
Either way they have to pave around the "white things". If you look at the photos you'll see that the area around them has to now be patched. Seems like a waste. -
the city loves to waste money, for example there is a very good patch of road on bedford ave in midwood, but every few years they tear it up and remake the roads all the roads there. its like clock work there.
while other areas with crappy roads never get it redone. -

But didn't they just cut out what they had painted in (kind of like a guideline)? I was under the assumption that they put the lines down first as a way to see how the traffic would work before they dug it up and put in the medians.

maybe it'll make the Evelyn Limo guys drive a bit slower.

Here's the problem with bike lanes:

Notice the double parked car on the left in the bike lane.
Notice no bicyclists in the bike lane.
Protected bike lanes are great if they actually go somewhere.
Painted bike lanes are a waste of taxpayer dollars as they just become double-parking lanes.
But you can dream that enforcement of bike lanes will be stepped up which is highly doubtful.
Howdy, Stranger!
