Pet-Sitting Trade? — Brooklynian

Pet-Sitting Trade?

Just thought I'd throw this out there because I know there are alot of people in my position. I have two biggish dogs that I adopted, and I have a really hard time boarding them when both my boyfriend and I have to be away overnight (which is, luckily, rare). One is a 2 year old Pit/Lab mix and the other is a 7 month old Pit/Boxer mix, and they are just big babies. However, 1) big dogs, esp Pit mixes, are hard to find boarding for and 2) I am not rich. It's really difficult to pay an additional $80-$90 per day for boarding when we're already strapped for a couple days vacation. We generally rent a car and find a pet friendly hotel (yay La Quinta!) and take them with us, but this time it isn't an option.

Would anyone be interested in forming some sort of dog-sitting 'club'? I have a nice, large backyard and I would be more than willing to watch someone else's dogs for a while in exchange for the same. I could always ask friends/relatives, but I'm much more comfortable with fellow dog owners. Honestly, I only have a 3-4 day window in July when I plan to extend a business trip into a pseudo-vacation, but I can see this being helpful for alot of like-minded people.
