Computer Question — Brooklynian

Computer Question

I'm totally computer stupid. I have an old one that died and would like to transfer files from the hard drive onto my working computer. Someone told me that this is done with some kind of enclosure. Can I figure this out myself? Any idea what an enclosure is or where to find one? Is it worth it to just take it somewhere, and if that is the case, where should I go?
Thanks Brooklynians.

  • Yes, there is an enclosure. What kind you get depends on what kind of hard drive you have. You have to remove the hard drive from your old computer, insert it into the enclosure and plug it into your new pc usb port.

If you are really computer stupid, I suggest that you might want to call around for prices and then take the drive (or computer) to a computer shop and ask them to order the correct enclosure, maybe put it into the enclosure for you.
