windows emulator for mac - which do you like?

I've never used one of these but would like to install one. I have an iBook G4. I have one gadget that requires that I use windows and I don't feel like firing up this other laptop I have - all-in-one would be much more helpful.

thanks

  • I use My Boot Camp - Parallels Desktop at work and it seems to work fine. It doesn't really slow down my system while it's running and I can keep the window slow enough to switch back and forth to the program I run in there and the excel spreadsheet I use on the MAC side.

Don't know if this is much help, but I'm not really technically savvy.
  • I really love Parallels, though it only works on Intel based Macs. For non-Intel based Macs, I've heard Boot Camp is solid, though I don't have any experience. From what I've heard though, with Boot Camp you cannot have the Mac and Windows running simultaneously. With Parallels, you can run Windows at the same time as a Mac. Newer versions of Parallels have "coherence mode" which allows you to run Windows-native programs without actually looking at a Windows desktop.
  • how much does boot camp/parallels cost? i too have a g4 mac and a few windows apps need to be ran every so often :(
  • Boot camp- I don't know.
    Parallels- approximately $60ish, I think?
  • any windows emulators that don't require you to have a copy of windows? I've already installed my copy of XP once so I'm kinda screwed (it's on a dead machine). thx.
