555 Prospect Place

The water and gas problems have more or less subsided...

Pros: Beautiful apartment (new and clean!), great views, so close to transportation-- steps from the S train that can get you to the 2,3,4,5,C,B,or Q fairly painlessly
Cons: gas and hot water battles (and I agree, they have pretty much been resolved), shifty management, and overpriced for the area (but it is a nice apt...)
Anyway, I go back and forth, but for us, the pros outweigh the cons. We'll stay. -
I was about to rent an apartment at 555 Prospect Place, however when I went there to pay the security deposit and first month rent I found that the management acted very unprofessionally and did not communicate openly at all. Also, after having spoken to other people that have already been living there, my decision not to rent an apartment at 555 Prospect Pl became very clear. The apartments are great, however the management does not know how to treat 'clients'! This management sucks!

We just moved out of 551 after 8 months. THe mangement sucks and the apartments are not what they are cracked up to be. After the water damage from the leaky roof causes mold to grow on your walls the place don't look so great.
Not to mention the lengthy commute to the city and the nasty neighborhood. We had bottles thrown at us and were called everything from "dick sucking faggots" to "white devils".
Moved to Hell's kitchen - LOVE IT! -

The management sucks without a doubt and there are certain apt problems in certain units but as for the neighborhood I totally disagree.

Why would you EVER move into CH if this is how you felt? -

my partner and i went over there (565) to see the first floor apt, but ass who was there would only let us see 1F, 3E & 10G... we wanted to see 1A... now, i luv the hood and want to stay and i luv 551 and 555, but MOLD?! DUUUUDES!
im goin over there in the morning to see a 1bd on the 3rd floor at 555 and a 2bd on the 1st floor at 551... ive printed out your comments to show the hubby, but u guys tell me... should we forget it or go for it...
as for the attempted bashing... that sucks! the hubby and i blend and sometimes i forget how dangerous it can be... there's a thriving gay and lesbian community here and we do indeed have supporters... so for those of us still here... lets bond... im open to any suggestions on a meeting place...

My roommate is gay and other than some awkward moments at Crown Fried Chicken he really hasn't encounter much harassment. We live on the 5th flr of 555. I have mixed feelings about recommending the bldg. I do love our apt and for all the troubles everything really is good now but I don't trust the management which is too bad but not all that uncommon. I'd be more than happy to show you our apt and chat with you if you like. Feel free to PM me
