  • I'm veggie too and really like Kinara's for Indian (they'll deliver to Bed Stuy) and La Stalla for good, cheap Mexican (formarly called Los Pollitos III).

  • There is a restaurant on Fulton St off of Nostrand Ave next to the Carver Bank called Melanies that has some good veggie food. Also on Nostrand Ave tween St Marks and St Johns they ave some veggie places as well on the right hand side going towards Eastern Pkway.
  • I'm just moving to the area too and at the corner of...Hancock and Throop (I think those are the x-streets) there is a Caribbean/Southern food place that's awning says vegetarian. I'm blanking on the name of it. Anyone know if it's good?

I think you're talking about Brook's Valley.... it's ok. They deliver and the spot is cute. I wish they would spice their food better, but I know they do have vegetarian options.
  • Brooks Valley is ok but a little expensive. I ordered Indian from Bombay Masala in Crown Heights once and it was decent. I think their website is www.bombaybrooklyn.com . I cosign Melanies and also Ali's roti shop as well. Melanies is nice as the bakes are whole wheat. Also the halal buffets at Bedford and Fulton have alot of veggie stuff for CHEAP too. Bush Baby at Bedford and Fulton has some nice vegan wraps and salads. The best place is in Crown Heights at St Johns and Nostrand called Ital Shak. They don't deliver but are open 24 hours a day. Definitely worth the walk. Sushi Tatsu 2 delivers to Bed Stuy and they have some veggie stuff too. Do not order chinese food in Bed Stuy. I haven't been but I heard that new Peaches place on Stuyvesant has alot of veggie stuff too.
  • I order from Tatsu all the time and I've yet to find any meat in my food (I always do from Chinese restaurants).

For a great meal out, I like Kush in Clinton Hill.

soule is a soul food restaurant around fulton and grand.

they offer veggie bbq & curry chikn, veggie steak and veggie salmon. they come with two large sides. not a place i'd eat at everyday since it's a little expensive for me, 12-14 bucks, but the portions are large and you won't feel ripped off.
  • Melanie's only issue is that the portions pretty much throw the health value out the window. good stuff, though.

where's Sushi Tatsu 2? this might be a good lunch option at work for me.
  • Also try Imhotep in Crown Heights on Nostrand and Park Place. I have a vegetarian friend who used to travel from Utica Avenue just to get dinner. He swore by the place.
  • i second kush. i'm not a vegetarian, but (and?) i always enjoy the veggie food i have there.
