Mailboxes on Flatbush

Has anyone ever had an issue with the guys who work there? I find two of the guys to be super-nice but the one guy has given me what I'll call "rude with a smile" on more than one occasion.

  • i haven't gone there, but the gf has sworn off the place because of a rude employee.
  • I used them many times when making deliveries on ebay sales. They have always been kind and professional to me.
  • I have found them to be sssssslllllllloooooowwwwwww.
  • I've been only a couple times, but have good experiences...maybe I just got lucky with the super-nice ones.
  • My wife loves the place and has never had a problem with anyone. I've been in there once or twice.....no problems on my end either.
  • I use them often and they are super nice.
  • I am in there about 3-4 times a week, always nice to me
  • I've been there many times, and they can be slow, but have always been nice to me.
  • Yep. One dude. He is always a jerk. Always. Try and avoid the place and do business elsewhere.
  • Subject: New Mailbox place on Washington?

For those of us near Washington Ave, it was a sad day when Halijaa called it quits at F&B. But now there's a new Mail place on Washington up by St Johns.

    Anybody tried it?

I just want someone to accept packages for $2 or less because the US Postal service sucks here. (numerous packages returned to senders - xmas packages mailed to me TWICE and still didn't make it, etc)

I'm not a big fan of the place on Flatbush - slow and the unpredictable attitude but it's the only game in the nabe. The mail place on Vanderbilt near Dean seems to think they are doing YOU a favor to take your business. (I flashed back to memories of the food stamp office for a minute from their surly tude.) and they wanted $5 per to accept packages.
  • Later for these dudes, eh?
  • I've been there multiple times and, at least, the guys that attended me were super nice. I also borrowed a cart from them when I moved.
    Very nice of them.

I passed by the store yesterday on my way to the gym and it was closed. There was a note that the store is for rent. Does anyone know anything about this?
  • Sounds like the guy ran into some problems with back rent.

I saw the note that indicated that the LL has a legal responsibility to allow access to any US Mail that's on the premises. I wonder if that also applies to any UPS packages that are still on site. Probably not. Messy, if you have something important that's trapped behind those locked doors.
  • Were any of you box-holders part of the unhappy looking mob congregating outside the place early last evening? Did someone let you in?

I saw that group, too. Apparently the LL gave/will give access to the mail yesterday and today.

Makes me think that I would never, ever use one of those private mail box places to accept anything. I hadn't considered before what would happen if the place went out of business. Bet that the owner just could not keep up with rising rents.

Now we can speculate about what'll go in that space. Mobile phone store, anyone?
  • ha! maybe another crunch extension...
  • I spoke with a friend of mine who had sublet a work space in the back. She was working away and eventually someone told her that the marshals were there to evict. She not only had no prior warning, she didn't even get the news while the eviction was happening. She was willing to forgive the owner for that, but there has been no follow-up.

I don't know the owner, and I like having quirky local businesses like that, and I'm even willing to forgive people for their mistakes, BUT if you don't correct your mistakes after the fact, I will lose patience.

I don't know all the details, but it sounds like if you were using that mailbox place, you should cut your losses and move on.
