5th Ave Ecuadorian

Has anyone tried the Ecuadorian place on 5th Ave near 13th St? I passed it last night, and have been craving it since. That place looks like the real deal.

Anything to definitely try there? Anything to avoid?

Never eaten there, but if it's the place I'm thinking of the specialty is cuy, or guinea pig, an Ecuadorean delicacy. I think it costs like $30, which is above my price point foor eating a rodent.

I thought that was a Peruvian dish. I didn't realize they had it in Ecuador too. I'll report back when I try it! 8)

mmmmm. sounds yummy.

the real question is, though - does anyone know where to get good cabrito? I'm kinda feeling like I should fly to Monterrey and go camp out at el rey de cabrito for a few months.

Salinas is the name of the restaurant. excellent food. the real ecuadorean stuff.

but the waitresses are mexican, so no authenticity points there.

try the Ceviche de Pescado, or the Fish Stew, with an Avena {oatmeal drink} or a Morocho {oatmeal like drink made with a grain native to Ecuador}

real cheap too.

i've never ordered the cuy. so i'm no help there.....
