    Dude, it's called a housewife.

    Housewife
    Noun
pl -wives a woman who runs her own household and does not have a paid job
    housewifely adj.
  • do housewife's still exist? I know there are women who don't work (that's not the same as you describe.)

Why do I think that that all of women who don't work and live off thier mates are like their male counterparts? i.e. fat, depressed, etc.

Before I get killed: Women that are raising kids are not being discussed here.

I'm talking about a woman who doesn't work, or have kids ...are you telling me they don't sit around and watch Oprah and Judge Judy all day?
...ditto the unemployed men who live off thier wives: All the ones I know drink beer and masturbate all day.

I need to meet this British Wife before I change my mind. So far, I've hear about an unemployed husband who occasionally does the dishes ...so my image remain unchanged..
  • LOL!!!

My husband is the one that occasionally does the dishes for me and he is not unemployed. He works 7 days a week.

I'm one of those women who has no kids and doesn't work.
Hell yeah I'm telling you I don't sit around watching Oprah and Judge Judy all day...... It's umm ....VH1 , Bravo , Nick , Disney Channel for me. Yeah , but of course my house is clean , dinner is cooked right before he's due home , the laundry is done and the fridge is stocked. As long as that is all done , I get to do what I want with my free time. Watch tv , play video games , become Brooklynian's bitch , go out and play with my friends etc.

It's ok being a housewifey, but still I kinda want to work , kinda don't want to , maybe I do , maybe I don't. I'm confused.

    EDIT:

P.S. I'm not fat and depressed. I'm chubby and grouchy.
  • I'd still rather have a gaggle of house boys.
  • You old people give me the VOMMMMSSSS!!!!
  • Beaverhausen , i want to be one of your bitch house boys!!

I'm not sure whether she proves or disproves my point. She's got some housewife qualities, but talks about wanting to work.

(and I certainly want to avoid a lengthy, grad-school style debate that posits VH1 against Judge Judy)

Who am I to decide whether I have met my first "true housewife" in a long time? If you want the title, its yours.

So, do we have anyone out there who thinks they have the title of being a boy toy? Sneaky, you seem to have aspirations, but this is not the same as the accomplishment.

P.S. Do men really want a happy housewife (as described above)?
Or, do we want one only after we get older (and limper)?
When men are young, they clearly want the idealized Playboy bunny (young, dumb, and full of our -ahem-).

And women, do they want the fantasy Prince regardless of their age? At what point do they want their Cabana Boy Toy to be smart enough to work the appliances when they are away?

I think that young women expect to get the fantasy prince and when that doesn't happen, and time moves on, expectations get realistic.

As far as the Cabana boy- it depends on the woman and what she's going through at the time. If she's recently broken up or divorced, then she's going to want to duct tape the mouth of every man she beds. If she's over that stage and wants a REAL man around the house, then Cabana boy doesn't stand a chance.....unless! Unless "real" man has yet to appear, then needs must get met. ENTER SNEAKY!

He won't shut up until you fuck him or kick him out.

This is not a bad idea. Thanks Watchu!!
  • So Sneaky scores points for availablity. ...In otherwords, he is not Mr Right, just Mr Rightnow.

Sneaky I think Anastasia might be headed your way.

Sneaky, are you smart enough to work appliances? Or are you strictly eye candy?
  • He's still too old for my fantasy. *sigh*
  • <---- waits for younger version of Sneaky to post their age next.

    Maybe he'll PM you.

Back on topic (?), I have a female friend who is 37 and still expecting a prince to show up so she can quit working. Perhaps needless to say, she is also an actress and waiting for this to pan out as well.

Not sure how she has managed to maintain either fantasy for this long...

    She has debt, I bet.

Anyway, tell her to look upwards in age. Like, a lot. Someone whose kids are grown (or almost there), who has a business, ex-wife who's re-married (no alimony), and a house in the Poconos.
  • We've given her similar advice, but she continues to hit on guys younger than her with the belief that they have prince potential. ...that somehow she will groom them.

The older, rich, divorced guys seem to be a miss match. I.E., She wants someone who is not viagra and rogaine dependent.

And the sophisticated older guys seem to skip the 37 year olds and go directly for the graduate student 27 year old.

Plus, there is that mountain of debt. ...some of it spent on making her rack higher.

There's also the problem of meeting the sophisticated guys while temping....

Then she is destined to fail. But you know it, and I know it, and she's just going to have to learn the hard way. Sucks.

Hey, you know, there's guys in their 40's! What about those guys???

Well, does she look all her 37 years or is she blessed like Whatchuwant? Also, guys can smell a needy woman from a mile away. They can smell a broke and needy woman from 2 miles...FWIW.
whynot_31 wrote: Plus, there is that mountain of debt. ...some of it spent on making her rack higher.

Yea, I knew it. You think to yourself, "I'm not going to get all really nice kitchenware cause that's for when I register to get married." Next thing you know, 10 years goes by and you're still cooking in the same piece of crap pan, only now, you NEED to buy a nice pan, you WANT a nice pan, and GOD DAMMIT you're going to GET the nice freakin' pan!!!

As for meeting sophisticated guys while temping- I don't go for that. All she has to do is hang out in the right bars, you know, the upscale ones. She's gotta dress the part (she's an act-tress!) and work it like her momma taught her.

But. She wants the young stud with potential. I hear that. But, probably in a couple of years, that'll change, cause she'll finally get that those guys are few and far between....and that they don't want 37/38/39 (unless he's all mature).
  • "I'm not going to get all really nice kitchenware cause that's for when I register to get married." ...sounds a little personal there WCW!

But, moving on, I think most of her debt stems from going out as opposed to cooking in. A nice pan would have done her well.

Re: the neediness. Yes, this a factor as well. She suffers from being too single. ...she asks guys if they are serious about committment on the 3rd date, because she doesn't want to waste her time and they flee. (they also pick up on the fact that they'll be paying for everything do to that temp job and her shrinking trust fund.)

...but I didn't even need to let you know there was a trust fund. Everyone had already assumed that, right?
  • Fuck that, she has a trust fund???

I hereby have lost all sympathy for your friend.
  • I was using her as example of the error of "waiting for a Prince". ...you are right, she deserves very little sympathy.

Perhaps if there was no trust fund, she would have settled for reality earlier. ...but it is not certain.'

Which brings us back to Princes and Bimbos.

The evidence is clearly stacked against Disney (et al) if they ever had to defend themselves against causing young girls to believe in a Prince.

Likewise, Playboy (et al) sets more than a few expectations too high for men (we are assuming that the 5'10", 19 y/o, 36C, 115 lb bimbo is the ideal --just go with it unless Smith College told you you must refute this).

So, assuming I am alive to read the responses: Which is more unrealistic? Which gender grows up feeling more jipped by reality?

(LGBTQ folks are welcome to contribute here ...but we might need a non Man - Woman thread to achieve this)
  • I am not a genious but i am not an idiot, can work appliances, tools, electronics and plus i consider myself a great cook and a great laid. Looking for a physical relationship that will lead to nowhere except the bedroom and the couch, anyone up for it??
  • Can you lift heavy shit? Walk dogs? Rub backs? Can I use duct tape on you??
  • Psst, Sneaky: The correct answers are "yes".

She'll eventually remove the duct tape, then you can remove the sticky residue with Goo Gone.

    Here's a link

    Cheers Sneaky!
