St. Marks Construction

Just out of curiosity, does anyone know what any of the buildings being built along St Marks are supposed to become? It seems like there are at least 5 construction sites between Grand and Vanderbilt.

  • as far as i know, condos b/w vanderbilt and washington.
  • I heard the construction site on st. mark's near Vanderbilt is going to be 8 stories! Really makes me sad as that takes a lot of sky away from my backyard:( The other site on St. Marks has already cut the skyline. I knew this would happen at some point when I moved to that block 10 yrs ago, and the empty lot was always an eyesore, plus I don't miss the random dumping of garbage, but the construction is annoying, I want my sidewalk back. I wish the construction in the middle of the block could have fixed the sidewalk....it's always been ripped up.
  • The spot on St Marks between Grand/Classon that is half-built will never get finished apparently. The security guard told me last week that the owner was out of his league. he bought a bunch of properties and started building and then got stuck financially.

Talk about an eyesore! Between the torn up sidewalk, the constant pitbull poo, the bare concrete block walls and the ugly chain link security fence, i get depressed that this will stay for years and years.

That is really disappointing to hear, I live on that block and that spot is SO awful. The least they could do is move the fence back so there would be a little more sidewalk.

And since you mentioned it, what is with the amount of dogpoop on St Marks? Do people just not care enough to pick it up? You have to be so careful walking down that entire block.
