Where is Crown Heights? Where do I live? — Brooklynian

Where is Crown Heights? Where do I live?

I am new to the area, I have looked at maps and have been under the impression the Crown Heights is south of Eastern Parkway and ends at Empire Blvd to the South and the zip is 11225 according to the maps I have seen. Now, I see it is considered to be on both sides of Eastern Parkway, in what I thought was Bed Stuy or used to be. I am further confused by the fact that the Crown Heights Library in on New York Ave & Maple Street, which is what I was told was Prospect Lefferts. I live just north of Empire Blvd bt Bedford & Rogers. I have been told I live in both Crown Heights & Prospect Lefferts.

Help me find out where I live! so I can figure out what neighborhood groups to join.

Anybody know any playgroups? good cafes? Live music venues? Fun things to do with a 1 yo in the winter? :D

  • Queen, it depends on the trends. I was at a dinner party Saturday night with a woman who grew up on Lincoln Place and New York Avenue in the 1930's. She said when she was a kid, Crown Heights was on the other side of Eastern Parkway (your side), while today goes all the way to Atlantinc Avenue. The blocks along Eastern Parkway just to the north and south were known as 'Eastern Parkway'. Bedford, later expanded east and became known as Bedford Stuvesant, started at Park Place!

There are no boundaries, only history and fashion. It depends on where you want to center yourself. Especially if you're on a boundary that is currently being affected by trends.
