Is something happening at Mooney's

I think it's a recent development that their windows have been covered with newspapers, isn't it? Is it just wishful thinking that something is happening there? Please, please let it be another bar. Also, anyone have a rough idea of what a space like Mooney's would rent for monthly?

I don't really care what goes in there, as long as it's not another mobile phone store.

The newspapers must be very new. I didn't see those last week from my perch at the gym.
  • It would be the closest bar to me if it becomes one again. Not sure if that's a good thing or not. It'll make me more disgruntled about going to the gym than ever if I have to stare at an open bar the entire time I'm on the elliptical.
  • i heard the commonwealth guys were opening a bar there.

but I think I read that on this board so who knows.
  • yeah, i heard that too santa.

heard they were also taking over the old lighthouse tavern space on 5th avenue.
  • That all sounds like (potentially) good news. It'll be nice having a bar close to my apartment (Future Wife says otherwise, though).

Hopefully, the rumors are true and they can get it up and running in a couple of months. I had only been to Mooney's once or twice before they closed down, so I didn't have any sort of attachment to the place. I do, however, hope that the new owners keep it a regular bar, and not yet another area establishment that focuses on micro-brews.

MOD NOTE: Trolling and responses to it have been removed from the thread. Carry on.
