any recommendations on a good, reasonably priced accountant in the neighborhood who has experience dealing with an independent contractor?

He's actually right near Little Italy / Soho, but pretty reasonable. He works out of his studio now. I was a freelancer for years and took all my little 1099 and W2s to him and he did a great job. Quirky, but fun and got the job done.
