Birthday Cake — Brooklynian

Birthday Cake

I need a simple birthday cake, nothing fancy, but just a good solid cake. And it would be cool if I could find a place that could do some cartoon icing decorations...

    I was looking for a place in the North Slope area. I was thinking about Cousin John's maybe?

    the Dominicans make the best birthday cake!
    nothing fancy just a good solid moist vanilla cake,
    the frosting is made with like a hundred egg whites,
    so that it's firm and light and leaves a white moustache on your lips
    they like to make it with a pineapple or guava filling, but if this is not your thing, you can tell them to just skip it
    and dominican cake is cheap too!

    i can't remember the exact location of a dominican bakery but i know there's one,
    i gotta imagine there's one on 5th ave in the teens{15th-19th street or so}
    does anyone else know of one?
    my corner bodega sells dominican cake in slices, i'll ask him for the bakery name

    beware: don't go into a mexican bakery for dominican cake
    if you see a mexican flag anywhere, say thank you and walk out :D
  • I got a b'day cake from the Harlem Cake Man on Fulton Street. It was really really good and he does lovely decoration. I forget the cross street but he's on the same block as Night of the Cookers but across the street.
