Thrift shops in Sunset Park — Brooklynian

Thrift shops in Sunset Park

Anybody know of a Goodwill, Salvation Army or other thrift shops or consignment shops in the areas between the 30's and the 60's, near 4th or 5th Ave? I'm mostly looking for places that might have a good selection of clothing. Barring that, are there any good ones in Bay Ridge?

  • Bay Ridge has a Salvation Army on Third avenue right off 69th - the clothing selection is not that big.

There was a St. Vincent dePaul I BELIEVE on Fifth near 60th - but they may have moved. I know the HQ is still on 191 Joralemon St. - you may call them. SVDP had a much better selection.
  • There used to be a few places on New Utricht around 45th and 46th Street that sold clothes by the pound. They had some really nice pieces there you just have to be willing to pick through the large baskets they have.
  • Isn't there a thrift store on 5th in the low 40s on the west side of the avenue? I can't say I've ever gone in, but I'm sure I've passed by it...
  • I think you're talking about Mapi's on 5th btw 44th and 45th. It is small, but it's very cheap and there's a lot of turnover. If you check in once in a while you'll find something eventually.
  • Thanks for the responses so far. Much appreciated. Looks like I live really close to Mapi's.
  • Consign Connection on 3 Ave & 87 St. in Bay Ridge.
