moving a wardrobe...advice please! — Brooklynian

moving a wardrobe...advice please!

hello neighbors!

first of all, if anyone would like a free IKEA standing wardrobe, please inbox me... if you can move it out by Friday night/Saturday morning, it's yours! (i will gladly email pictures)

second of all... i need this wardrobe out, whether it goes to a good neighbor or not. so, i'm posting here, because craigslist is a joke it seems... no one ever follows through on picking things up--so if someone close by is interested and can scoop it up, it's all yours!

lastly and most importantly, if anyone can recommend a man with a van that can remove this wardrobe, and pick up my new chest of drawers from the LES to bring back to brooklyn, that would be lovely! again, craigslist is proving to be overwhelming, so if anyone can recommend someone who's a good mover and can give me a contact, that would be so helpful! i am short on time and would love to go with someone reliable that can move furniture delicately, and remove my old piece!

thank you for your advice!!

  • I regularly use Carlos for such adventures. He charges $75 an hour.

  • Check the Park Slope Board and check out Armchair warrior. I have used
them twice for local moving projects and they are professional polite
reliable and VERY reasonable. There is a thread on local moving and
you'll find his number there or PM me and I'll give it to you.
  • Sadly, Armchair has decided to hang up his van-hauling spurs.

And the man-with-a-van ads are found on the Classifieds board, not the Park Slope board, for future reference.

    Good luck, PPG!
  • Thanks you guys! I called Carlos and he's coming tomorrow! I will have all of my new stuff in/out and in place 24 hours this time.

Also, I put an ad up on CL just to see if i got any takers, and all I got were oddball replies. People on craigslist are nutty these days.
