Jewelry Classes starting this SUNDAY! — Brooklynian

Jewelry Classes starting this SUNDAY!

Hi All,

I teach silver smithing at 3rd Ward studio in Williamsburg, and am trying to grow our jewelry program and continue offering weekend and evening jewelry design and technique classes. Our introduction to silversmithing classes runs for four weeks, and we still have space in our Sunday afternoon class that runs from 2:30 - 5:30 pm each Sunday through the 31st. This class will arm you with all the necessary skills and safety info to fabricate simple pieces in sheet metal. The first two weeks cover cutting, sanding, filing, finishing, polishing, patinating (adding color) and most importantly soldering with an oxy/acetylene torch. The second two weeks of the class focus on more advanced metal smithing techniques as voted on by the students in the class - in the past we've done stone setting, wax carving, cold joining and riveting, and forming and sinking over anvils. This class has no assignments, it is designed to give the students the creative options they'd like - no cookie cutter projects! Also included within the price of the class are 3 days worth of shop/studio access passes for use in our fully loaded jewelry/metal shop, a $200 value.

If you already know the basics of silversmithing, have a look at our wide variety of one and two day jewelry workshops designed to introduce you to new techniques - like photo etching, alginate mould making, casting, plastics, enameling, chain making, stone setting and much more! Please check out our website www.3rdward.com for pricing, specifics or to sign up for this or a plethora of other art classes. You can also email me via this message with any specific questions or concerns. I can't wait to make art with you!
