Become a Bee Watcher! Long post...
Become a Bee Watcher!
Bees are the most important pollinators in the Northeastern U.S.! They help keep our parks, gardens, and green spaces beautiful, and farmers’ markets stocked with fresh produce.
Did you know that besides the widely-recognized honey bee, there are also many native bees?
Join other volunteer Bee Watchers to record data on local bees for the Great Pollinator Project. Help scientists collect information about bee diversity, bee distribution, and frequency of bee visits in New York City’s five boroughs.
Task: observe bees visiting your community garden, terrace, porch, backyard, or park
Time commitment: half an hour, 2-3 times a month when bees are flying (sunny days from June through October), as your schedule permits
Qualifications: curious, observant, and eager to spend time in the sunshine watching bees!
Citizen Scientists Needed!
The Great Pollinator Project is partially funded by the New York City Environmental Fund and Audubon/Toyota TogetherGreen.
If you want to learn more about native bees, contribute to scientific research,
and spend time relaxing outdoors,
