The Circus of Circus: A Tragic Tale of Entertainment
THE CIRCUS OF CIRCUS
A Tragic Tale of Entertainment
Circus of Circus is a big-time, big-top musical of splendor and satire, adapted from George Orwell’s classic novella “Animal Farm”, following a darkly humorous tale of a corrupt circus troupe overthrowing their ringmaster to create a dazzling show of their own.
The show combines tongue-in-cheek vintage musical theatrics and dazzling circus spectacles set to original parodies of jazz standards. The multi-talented cast of contortionists, aerialists, dancers and fire performers parallel the characters of the original as they soon find out that “all performers are equal- but some are more equal than others.”
Written and Produced by Kae Burke of House of Yes and Lady Circus and Directed by Rachel Klein, The all-star cast includes seasoned performers of the circus and stage including Benjamin Cerf of Reverend Billy’s Choir, singer and burlesque star Ashley Monroe, master acrobat Ryan Murray Shinji, fire performer Evgenia Radilova, aerial-contortionist Natasha Ortiz, Eric Schmalenberger of Rachel Klein Productions, as well as Shannon Turner, David Slone, Valton Jackson, Angela Harriell and the Love Show Dancers. Live jazz ensemble directed by Benjamin Ickies of This Ambitious Orchestra.
