Kids Cafe Festival Goes to College will feature performances and remarks from Festival Host, David Parker and the Bang Group, with opening remarks from legendary dance icon and NYU Tisch School Professor, Gus Solomons. The festival performances will showcase student choreography from participating dance departments, NYC’s premiere high school dance groups and Dancewave’s three unique pre-professional dance companies: Dancewave Company, Dancewave Company II and the Young Movers Ensemble. The festival reaches a targeted audience of 150-250 high school students with a strong interest in dance and dance programs, as well as approximately 600 dance fans from all over the metropolitan area.

The Dancewave Company will premiere Nathan Trice’s Conversations. Dancewave Company II will premiere Matthew Westerby’s A Watershed Moment. Young Movers Ensemble will premiere Dedrick Anthony’s, holding ‘til daybreak.

Participating college dance departments include: The Juilliard School; Department of Dance at Ohio State University; Eugene Lang College; The New School for Liberal Arts; Hofstra University; Long Island University, Brooklyn Campus; Marymount Manhattan College Dance Department; Montclair State University; Purchase College, Conservatory of Dance; Sarah Lawrence College Dance Program; The College at Brockport; The University Of Massachusetts, Amherst; and University of the Arts.

Participating high school programs include: 92 St Y-Harkness Repertory Ensemble, BaxCo, Creative Outlet’s Dance Theatre of Brooklyn, East Village Dance Project, Gestures Dance Ensemble, Manhattan Youth Ballet, The Dalton School, Peridance Youth Ensemble, The Joffrey Ballet School, Rebecca Kelly Teens, Student Company of The School at the Mark Morris Dance Center.
