Restaurants in Vegas?
so I'm going to be in Vegas in a few weeks and I want to go to one of the nicer restaurants. I want to avoid:
- a duplicate of an NYC restaurant
- a restaurant on the casino floor or employing a gimmick (like incorporating the Venetian's themes - gondolas and singing waiters)
I would ideally like to find a good restaurant with a view of the strip.
Anyone have some advice?
thanks!

I've been to Vegas a few times. It is very hard to find good food on the Strip. Although the Bellagio buffet is pretty good. So is the restaurant at the Golden Nugget in downtown. Btw, could you put $20 on the hard eight for me at the craps table please?

the cafe, Mon Ami Gabi, is VERY tasty for a light lunch and people watching on the strip. it has a cute outdoor terrace that overlooks the strip & the Bellagio fountain i believe. the food ranges from light salads that are very scrumptious, and also steaks & steak frites-- and believe me this place knows how to make some french fries!i know that this is not exactly what you asked for, but just in case you wanted to stop there for a light lunch, then i recommend it.

thanks! I actually had dinner there one night. it was nice. sitting outside wasn't really an option, though - it's 110 degrees in Vegas right now!
