New bill upgrades unauthorized Internet streaming to a felony
The media companies are finding themselves in a tough spot.
Recording a movie and then selling DVDs is bad for revenue.
...but could you imagine a scenario in which I buy a movie (or comedy show, etc)ticket and then just anonymously stream it to a "website that allows anyone to watch" in real time.
that would brutally destroy venue revenue.
That is essentially how it is now, there are always CAM versions of new films, often the day after their theater releases. The poor quality of these recordings is the primary reason why they aren't popular. There are also many screener versions of films leaked before they hit the big screens.
I don't go to the movies often but when something "good" comes along I can't resist. Mostly independent films as Hollywood continues to churn out garbage year after year.
