Baked in Brooklyn on 5th ave — Brooklynian

Baked in Brooklyn on 5th ave

I passed this place on my way home, and it smelled very good. I wonder if their products are worth a trip there.

Yelp, seems to give them positive reviews but, I have known some businesses on Yelp that have had people who work for them post fake positive reviews. I want the real deal from you guys:

Are the baked goods worth a trip? I am especially curious about any fruit and nut breads they may have.

I asked is it worth the trip. That means I have to trek there, because it is on the other side of Sunset Park. I don't normally pass through that area of greenwood heights/sunset park, because my train stop is farther away, and I usually shop/eat closer to home or in Manhattan. I happen to have been meeting someone at Korzo, and passed by there on bike, on my way home.

I can buy baked goods anywhere, but sometimes if something is really good, I will trek to a special place. For example. I love the Whole Foods Allegro "Manhattan Blend" coffee. I am willing to trek to a Whole Foods to get it, where as not so much for a cup of Bustelo

  • by posting you know you want to track your ass over there and get some :p.

  • Which place are you talking about? I know there is a place called Baked that is in Red Hook that has delicious things, but google didn't show me another bakery by that name. Is it really new?

  • I went last weekend after my roommate raved about it. I really liked it.

  • We stopped by shortly after they opened.

Some baked goods deals. Offering up-scale deli salads.

Unfortunately, not worth going out of your way for, like Bells Bialys where a dozen bagels/bialys cost $5.

Perhaps they will evolve into a true 'outlet' to compensate for their lack of parking and low foot traffic location.

    We will check back.....

Maybe, but it appears lukewarm from the response here. Someone is saying not worth going out of my way for Bagels or Bialys.

I will say Tacos Matamoros is really good enough for a trip to Sunset park, if you like Tacos. Its on 45th and 5th.. just sayin...

  • We (a few brooklynians)drove by this place on our way back from lunch. It looks really interesting, I'd also be curious to hear more reviews of the place. In particular if there were any remarkable pastries, mexican breads, or good sourdough.

Off topic, but what is up with the Meatball place also on 5th ave. From the outside it looks like a hipster artisinal meatball shop.EDIT to add this maybe the place I thought I saw..

The name of this place is "Baked In Brooklyn" and it is not the same company as Baked, which is in Red Hook.

Haven't tried B-I-B yet but it does smell wonderful, and the space looks light and bright.

  • I'm a big fan of their bagel with lox and their almond croissants... Their pita is super fresh because they're Aladdin bakery. I'd recommend checking it out for sure!

Oh that Is Kotfte Piyaz, and they have the worst food ever. I yelped about them. Unfortunately, The extent of their "turkish food" is some grilled nonsense that tastes charred. Never mind their soups that taste like they could have been dumped into a saucepan and heated up straight from A Campbell's soup jar. Nope.

  • I stopped by there last week and was satisfied with what i purchased, while speaking with one of the workers he mentioned the bakery has two functions, in the day it's a bakery and in the evenings a crematory, making it a very unique establishment where you can either pick up or drop off.
