Blessing of the Animals at St. Paul's Church on Oct. 6th, 2013 — Brooklynian

Blessing of the Animals at St. Paul's Church on Oct. 6th, 2013

On Sunday, October 6th at 12:45 p.m., St. Paul’s Church (157 St. Paul’s Place, off of Church Ave.) will host its first ever Blessing of the Animal’s ceremony! The ceremony will take place in the courtyard behind the church on St. Paul’s Court.

In honor of St. Francis of Assisi, the Blessing of the Animals (or Blessing of the Pets) is a fun and interactive ceremony carried out at churches around the country. Community members are invited to bring their pets for a blessing by Father Sheldon Hamblin, live organ music on the church’s 1956 Estey, tours of St. Paul’s unique stained glass windows and free refreshments and snacks provided by Dunkin’ Donuts (at E. 17th St.), Meat Palace Supreme (1811 Church Ave.), and the congregation of St. Paul’s Church.
