Very nice... I did a few photo comparisons like this on Dailyheights.com which I can't find at the moment.

I would like to see someone do a before and after of 180 Underhill Ave.:

Great picture! I'll try to remember the address when I take my next walk. I take most of my pictures when I take my dogs on long walks on my days off. I have alot of pictures of buildings in PH and CH and have been trying to find old pictures of some of them. I haven't been having much luck though. I also have to come up with a way to remember where exactly I take pictures (which streets or avenues). It's a bit difficult to write things down with 2 big dogs in tow.
If I get over to 180 Underhill I'll post the pics! -
Ah, pictures of Brooklyn back when it was civilized! Nice, but sad.

dailyheights, here you go!
180 Underhill Avenue then
Now

cool! I wonder if the Mirabito sign is still behind the 2-Way Launder Center sign.
-
I think it looked way better back then, I hate those metal doors. It looks like the laundry sign is on top of something, maybe it is the Mirabito sign.

[wistful]Wow. I wish that place was still there.[/wistful]

GREAT pics -- keep them a-coming!

Subject: Mirabito's
I've wondered about the Mirabito's sign for years. That's my grt grandfather's old store. I hear that they renovation the building. Can anyone confirm? Perhaps an opportunity to finally find out about the sign. -
For those that are interested in a little history
on the 4th Photo of the "now" UNION LEAGUE CLUB there are round medalions in relief above the front steps
one of President Lincoln and one of General Grant (that is him also on the horse which was built by the UNION LEAGE CLUB)
One is visible just to the right of the street name sign and the other is just above the "don't-walk-signal".
This intersection is also known as GRANT SQUARE. -

Not knocking General Grant of course; just an interesting tidbit from trivia-library.com

Little-Known Facts: During the Civil War, Grant would often breakfast on a cucumber soaked in vinegar. If he ate meat at all, it had to be cooked black; he detested the sight of blood, and a serving of rare meat was enough to make him queasy.
