amm... Does anyone else notice that this is the exact same menu as Joy on Flatbush? except for the name I see the same dishes, for example the Chef's Special Presentation is exactly the same??
Are they the same owners?

By the way I appreciate the information and the folks at an area restaurant told me thefood there was great! That is the unusual restaurant in Bed Stuy where you will find menus for other restaurants. 8)

Haha, no shilling here. I figured someone else would be looking for the menu and it would be handy to have it online. I also kind of like scanning stuff and editing pictures since I'm a geek.

Can you explain how that is done - I'm over 40, 20 years bg - I will like to do all that fancy stuff to embelish my posts. Speak english not geek, or maybe we should start an instructional thread; that Shaggy post and the one with the caps lock from awhile back were impressive.

What would you like to know how to do? To post pictures you have to use an image hosting site like Flickr or Photobucket. They're both free but Flickr has a limit of 200 pictures. Depending on what site you use there are slightly different ways of posting pics but they're pretty easy. I'd be glad to walk you through it.

I tried it yesterday and it is my new Indian restaurant when I don't feel like driving out to Queens. The food is excellent and the ownership is eager to please; to the people in the community who want to improve the "nabe" even if you don't want to eat or shop at the businesses please make regular financial cotributions, because if they close the walk home will be pretty ugly.

I'm a longtime fan of Joy Indian, especially the chana shaag and the chicken garlic curry. Only problem has been the sometimes (in my opinion) excessive oil. I heard about Bombay Masala at the recent PH Festivus party and have been eager to try it.

I just ordered the same two dishes from Bombay Masala, and I first asked the guy whether they are owned by the same people as Joy. He said yes, they are (which explains the identical menu). I asked if they have the same chef, and he said the chef at Bombay used to work at Joy, and they use the same cooking style. So I told him the only thing I didn't like about Joy was that sometimes the food was too oily, and I asked if they could please use less oil. We'll see what happens...

Here's the verdict: both dishes were slightly less oily than the regular Joy version. However, the flavors were not quite as good. The spices had a different balance, and the sauce for the chicken garlic curry was slightly more tomato-saucey than the Joy version I am addicted to. And the chunks of white meat were slightly less tender (different supplier maybe?). The chana saag was heavier on the sauce than at Joy, which is usually heavier on the spinach, which I personally prefer.

So I guess all else being equal, I will stick with Joy and keep trying to get them to go lighter on the oil.

I finally went this afternoon with my roommate and can't say enough nice things about the place.

Their saag paneer is very good. I personally rate an Indian restaurant by the tastiness of their saag paneer. I have tried several other restaurants in the area and haven't cared for their saag paneer so I was thrilled when Bombay Masala came along. If you like it a little more on the spicier side though you will need to let them know. It comes mild.
