Anyone have a bunch of old newspapers they don't want?

Subject: Anyone have a bunch of old newspapers they don't want?

I have to pack up the contents of my kitchen this week because it's being renovated. I need a whole bunch of newspaper to wrap dishes and stuff up in, but I always read it online so I don't have any.

Anyone nearby have a big stack of newspaper that they need to get out of their apartment? We can come get it. I'm hoping there's someone out there who is like me--I always used to forget recycling day.

  • No newspapers for you but here's one thing I did the last time I moved. I used all the plastic bags I'd accumulated (mostly ones with holes I couldn't use to pick up dog poop) to wrap stuff in. Depending on how fragile something was, 2 or 3 bags worked well.
  • Hey, that's a good idea. We've got tons of 'em, and I've love to find a way to use them all up.
  • I wrapped some stuff in t-shirts. I have too many t-shirts.

I use the plastic bags for kitty litter scoopings.

You can check a newsstand and ask if they'll give you some leftovers.
  • I have a bunch of old newspapers.
  • Last time we moved I put cheap paper plates between the plates to cushion them. It worked really well and nothing broke.
  • oh this is a great time to use those annoying flyers that is given out in the hood all the time.
  • Carnivore, are you around today? I'll come take yours newspapers--but I have dinner plans tonight so won't be around for the middle of the evening.

The t-shirts are a good idea, but since we're not actually moving, and the stuff will have to be packed up for a month, I don't think that will work--I'll need to wear them! I'll ask at the newsstand, too.

    Thanks for all the ideas!
